Patriot Mobile: Everything You Need To Know

The cell phone industry is one of the most competitive marketplaces in the world. In order to stay competitive and viable, it's important for cell phone companies to distinguish themselves from the rest. One such cell phone provider is Patriot Mobile, but, like most companies, they have their fair share of customer issues.

In this guide, we will explore all there is to know about Patriot Mobile, including several customer complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). We will learn about each complaint and see if Patriot Mobile was able to solve the problem. Before we get into that, however, let's take a closer look at the company itself.

About Patriot Mobile

In 2012, a cell phone company out of San Francisco spent millions of dollars to defeat five Republican Congressman. In response to this, Patriot Mobile was founded in 2014. Their platform is based on offering an alternative phone company for conservatives who are fed up with their current carriers donating to liberal political candidates. 5% of each customer's bill goes to conservative causes and organizations such as

  • Camp Hope
  • Family Research Council
  • National Rifle Association
  • PragerU
  • Students for Life of America
  • Tea Party Patriots
  • Faith & Freedom Coalition

This 5% charge is not an extra charge on the customer's bill. The basic goal of Patriot Mobile is to offer affordable, yet quality cell phone service while supporting a cause conservatives can believe in.

The first customer complaint we will take a look at was filed with the BBB on March 3rd, 2017. The complaint type was filed under the category of a problem with the product or service. The customer stated that they submitted and paid for their contract online. The customer later received a phone call from the company asking the customer if they were aware that they signed a 2-year contract. The customer affirmed that he knew of the contract details. This is where the issue begins.

Patriot Mobile then informed the customer that they had to pay $295 for their phone. The customer then stated that they were not made aware at checkout that they would be charged that amount for the phone and asked Patriot Mobile to immediately cancel the transaction.

As of the time the complaint was filed with the BBB, the customer still had not been refunded the initial $54.97 payment despite sending numerous e-mails inquiring about the status of the refund.

On March 14th, 2017 (11 days later), Patriot Mobile reviewed the complaint and refunded the $54.97 to the customer. As of today, this complaint is marked as resolved to the customer's satisfaction.

The second complaint filed with the BBB that we will explore was filed by the customer on August 11th, 2017. The complaint stated that there was an issue with a Patriot Mobile product or service. The customer stated that they ordered a phone and service plan from the company on July 28th, 2017. According to the customer, Patriot Mobile charged them for this transaction, but after a few days the customer had not received their phone.

The customer sent e-mails to the company on August 9th, 2017, but these e-mails went unanswered. As of when the complaint was filed, the customer had still not received their phone or a refund.

On September 1st, 2017, Patriot Mobile responded by immediately refunding the customer their $63.51. The company states that the issue occurred due to a technical issue on their website. The company also stated that the customer never called customer service, and that, when Patriot Mobile tried to reach the customer, they could not. As of today, the complaint is marked as resolved to the complainant's satisfaction.

The next customer complaint we will examine was filed on August 27th, 2017 with the Better Business Bureau. The customer stated that she had placed an order for two phones and service plans. Two weeks went by and the customer still had not received the products. When they contacted Patriot Mobile, a customer service rep explained to the customer that they would have to switch phones because the ones the customer originally ordered were on back-order.

The customer was assured that that their family member could add a line of Patriot Mobile on their existing phone. It turned out that was not the case, as the customer had to make additional purchases to get the phone serviced. Patriot Mobile ended up billing the customer $378.01 more than expected.

On December 1st, 2017, Patriot Mobile responded to this complaint by reimbursing the customer $378.01 and explaining that there was a mix up in the shipping department. As of today, the status of this complaint is listed as answered and not resolved. This is because the customer did not accept the response given to them by the company nor they did not update the status oi this response to the BBB.

Better Business Bureau Complaint #3

The fourth customer complaint filed against Patriot Mobile to the Better Business Bureau that we will look at was filed on December 16, 2017.

This complaint was filed under billing or collection issues. The customer states that they had tried to contact Patriot Mobile multiple times about a proposed purchase. These calls included two voicemails left by the customer and the time on hold was over 25 minutes. After not hearing back from the company, the customer sent an e-mail to the company requesting a refund. As of the date this complaint was filed with the BBB, the customer had still not heard back from the company regarding this matter or received their money back.

On December 20, 2017, Patriot Mobile responded to this complaint by explaining that the call center had received higher than normal call volume due to the holidays. They credited the complainant's account $76.66. Currently, this complaint is marked as answered but not yet resolved. This is either because the complainant did not update the status to the BBB or did not accept the response given by Patriot Mobile.

Better Business Bureau Complaint #3

The final complaint filed with the BBB we will look at was filed on July 5th, 2018. The customer stated that they were charged $120.45 for two phones with a first month of service starting June 25th. As of when this complaint was filed, the complainant still had not received their phone or a refund. The customer went on to explain about a troubling experience with a rude customer service agent when she called Patriot Mobile on June 25th.

The customer states that the customer service rep was extremely rude and stated that he could not even find the customer's information in the system. The customer called back the next day, and this time spoke to a different service representative who was more helpful and did indeed find the customer's information in the system. The customer was promised a refund to their account in 3-5 business days but still had not received a refund as of when the complaint was filed.

Patriot Mobile responded to this complaint on the same day it was filed. The company apologized for the unprofessionalism of their representative They also stated that the process of the refund had not been started when it should have been. They issued a refund to the customer for the amount of $120.45. As of today, this complaint is marked as answered. It has not been resolved yet because the complainant has not verified that this refund actually occurred.
